Since 2010, there has been a lively exchange between artists from Kyoto/Osaka and Hamburg.
It was initiated by Anke Feuchtenberger, professor of Drawing and Illustration at the University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, and Yuji Yamada, gallery owner and publicist in Kyoto.
This resulted in mutual exhibitions, visits and workshops.
The artists involved organized further exhibitions
in Hamburg and Kyoto, published catalogues (Subarashii, 2011; Instant Cosmic, 2013) and took part in a house renovating project in Wazuka that resulted in an artists residence.
With the kind support of the Hamburger Kulturbehörde the exchange will proceed from 2017 as the German-Japanese cultural festival EYE EYE. For this, the friendly society Eye Eye e.V.
has been funded in 2016.
